Age shouldn't matter at all but sadly we live in a very 'age conscious' society especially when it comes to work. Employers simply don't like employing older folk because they are not a long term 'investment'. They can't be bothered to train someone who will only disappear and retire in a year or so.

In one's teens age matters very much to lads. Just a couple of years matters a huge amount and rarely do fellas go out with a girl of 15 if they're 17.

As we grow older, the age gap doesn't matter so much although it is still traditional for the man to be older than the woman. However, when we hit our late 30s / 40s our hormones start acting up and men often have affairs with much younger women and equally women at this age find it flattering to have a toyboy.

Again, as we grow older so does the age gap and we prefer to be with folk around our age group as we can relax, feel comfortable and everyone knows what you are talking about when you reminise over the 'old days'.

So it's all a matter of phases in our lives our needs and desires and attraction but then there are always the exceptions !

I don't think age matters, it all depends on the persons mentality.
My ex was 10 yr older than me but he acted like he was 10 yr younger than me,he didn't want to grow up.

i've thought about this and the age gap matters less as you get older. for example, fem 18 - guy 36..... doesn't look good? but if the fem is 36 and the guy is 54, it seems better? take it further, the fem 54 and the guy 72, that seems even better? ok, is the fem is 72 and the guy 90, no one would say a thing!

but i think from the start of a relationship that it does depend on the two people involved. age would not matter to me, only if it bothered my partner then i would worry but only cos it bothered her. if a couple can relate to each other and be able to ignore the stupid remarks of others, then it'd work.

Yes it matters less as you get older if you're a man ......but if its the other way round its different.....
guy 18..fem 36..... not too bad
guy 36..fem 54...fem feels insecure

guy 54..fem72......does he really feel the same about her?
guy 72...fem90...if they got past the previous age then thats great
Im speaking from experience and still nursing a broken heart .....I dated a guy who was 18 yr younger than me...it lasted 4yr...so in my case it did'nt work...but im sure there are many thousands out there who are happy with the age gap relationship and its working fine for them
