Hi guys

Can all regular chatters please make sure you use the other rooms especially in the evening and dont just sit in the newbies room and chat among youselfs please.

There was a situation tonight were all the normal people were in the newbies room, and taras room had 5 people init all NEWBIES hiding in there !

Eg

heidi: thats good i got lost b4 when they all started chatting amongst them selves

It should be the other way around dont you agree ?

This is because the new people cant get a word in edgeways sometimes, when you are asked to move rooms, I expect you to do so, and not moan and arse about cos someone told you to do something you dont wanna do.

This is for the good of everyone on the site, after all you want new people to talk to dont you ?

woc - could you confirm... are regs not to go into the newby room at all in the evenings? or are we allowed in, so long as we move immediately if we are asked to?

Hi there

You can go in until things liven up of course, i dont expect u to sit in an empty room on ur own, the newbies room has been made smaller it will only hold between 10 and 12 people now, so if it gets to nearly 10 people i would expect people to think about moving.

We did do this before a while ago, and it worked quite well once people got used to it, but we havent had the numbers until now to do it again.

I understand that the regs can get carried away with their own conversations sometimes and perhaps we are all guilty of not making enough effort with newbies... when you had a go at us yesterday, you said we were simply saying hi to them and then carrying on with our own conversations. But surely the onus is equally on newbies to make the effort, so long as the regs, admin and hosts encourage them to join in? I think the majority of us do try to encourage ppl to jump into the conversations and make them feel welcome, but it's a two way street.

If the issue is simply that the room gets too busy sometimes and the regs are asked to move, then fine - I have no problem with that at all.... but reducing the capacity of the newbies room has now made things rather difficult. Several times today I've logged in and the newbies room has been at 9 or 10 with all other rooms empty - I've tried to encourage ppl to move next door, moved myself and then waited..... when others haven't followed, I can't get back into the newbies room as it's full up.

I'm not expecting sympathy or owt, cos at the end of the day it's your site and you can make whatever rules you want, but if I'm having this problem, now the capacity has been reduced, surely others will too - and if it continues, aren't you at risk of losing regs to other chat rooms?

Perhaps things will get better once ppl get used to it...... watch this space I spose.

Yeah really quite annoying when people wont move rooms isnt it !

As you said people will get used to it, i dont really understand what the problem is, the newbies room is called the newbies room for a reason, its for new people, in the past people were allowed to stop there while we were not too busy.

This however has changed we are a lot buiser now, and can sustain 2 rooms admittedly mainly in the evening, the problem with people not moving rooms is a separate issue, as few people dont want to be the first to sit in the room on their own. In fact some people take it personally being asked to move, which is frankly rediculous.

I made the room smaller for a reason, so people will use the other rooms.

If people are going to leave to another chat site, because we are trying to improve the rooms for the better of everyone, then i dont want them here anyway !

a foray into their knicker drawers could be on the cards
