Default That Time of Year Again!

I am considerded to be generally miserable when it comes to "festivities". Personally one thing that winds me up to a pitch are people's offspring knocking my door asking for a trick or treat or whatever other ploy has crossed the Atlantic.

If people want kids that's fine, but they don't have to share them with the neighbours do they?

Am I miserable or are my sentiments generally shared?

I know how u feel. We're lucky that there aint many kids in our street so I just dont answer the door to them. If i had kids of my own then i would but tbh i think that halloween is dying a death from when i was a kid... its always peeing with rain when they meant to be dressed up knocking doors ...

I don't want to come across as being miserable but its difficult to get excited about things like that. Its the same feeling of depression that decends when people want to show their holiday snaps. To anyone else they're quite meaningless.

Anyway I know you get the odd drop of rain where you are. We're planning a move to Skye, they get real rain there and its in Gaellic!

Didnt you partake in any of these things as a young un? i understand and would never entertain kids that dont get dressed up.. its cheap enough to buy a big bag of sweets and offer them as an alternative to money though, go on try it you may enjoy it

I'm fine the way I am. No I never did anything like that myself as a kid. My objection is is that they are doing it for personal gain. I think they would be viewed with alot more sympathy if they donated the takings to a local charity. That way they could have fun at the same time benefiting their local community. Do you think that's unreasonable?

Of course they are doing it for personal gain lol, thats what drives most people, i really dont think that kids think about charities etc did you? i know i didnt at that age, Why would kids want anybodies sympathy either? they are simply getting dressed up, which in this day and age is hard to avoid as its thrust in their faces, i went to the petrol station yesterday on the way home from picking the eldest up from college, filled the car up,and my 4 year old wanted to come in to pay with me for no other reason but to look at the streamers, masks, pumpkins, scary spiderweb spray and giant spiders in the shop, and that was just on display!!! i take it you dont have children? god help the ones that visit you this year.

I havn't and they don't. Bah humbug!

Seriously though I'm not trying to be controversial, just that having it "thrust in your face" is not everyone's cup of tea.
