legal drinking age

do you think the current legal drinking age should be raised to 21 like in the states ?
with the hoody culture we have in the Uk now underage drinking is a major problem or should it be lowered and kids taught its ok to have a few drinks like in other european countries

Last year I worked for a short while in Tescos and was told that the legal age for drinking was to raise to 21. So as far as I am aware - this has now been made law.

thats what they tell you so you wont serve anyone who looks young but most people do anyway because they dont want to cause any trouble

both drinking alcohol & smoking is really bad 4 ur brain (depends wot ur smoking) & body...but do u think there guna ban them or raise the age restriction..thus making it harder to get with the huge taxes the goverment gets of them.

Dont think they will ever ban them as it's making money for the government! and raising the age has been done already but has it worked????

whatever the legal age will be if the kids want it they will get it
Kids nowadays are looking more like adults than we are lol
it only takes makeup and a short skirt and bobs ur uncle ur in the club,
i was only 14 when i went into a club and spent the night there drinking
illegally
so it dont matter what the legal age is it will never be taken seriously and peeps will never abide by the law.

lets educate the young properly just telling them its bad for your health isn't enough

The only sure way it to bann alcohol sales in supermarkets and only restrict them to off-licenses. It's too freely available. If the government is considering taking cigarettes off the shelves and hiding them away then they should do the same thing with alcohol. Both are addictive, both can cause serious illness/death - there you go sorted then !!
