I would like some opinions on this. Is a smart watch worth it? Is it a must have, or is it just another gadget that will disappear?
Nowadays you can get a smart watch at Amazon for like $30. Those smart watches might not be sophisticated but I think that they are excellent for people who want to try it out first and see if it is something they want to invest in. That’s what I did a few months ago. I ordered a $28 smart watch from Amazon just to try it out.It was exciting at first. I checked my blood oxygen saturation level every hour and my heartbeat every half hour, haha! Of course I also carefully kept track of how many steps I took in a day.
A great thing about the watch was that I only had to charge it about once a week, the battery seemed great. I had to download an app which was necessary to work with the smart watch. Now I could even pick up the phone through my watch. That part I really liked, it was very convenient. I could also check my text messages etc.. Another nice thing was the ‘where is my phone’ option. I often misplace my phone and my watch would make my phone beep when I asked it to.Fast forward 5 weeks or so, and I totally got bored with it. It was just something else to pay attention to. The smart watch has now been in my desk drawer for a few weeks, unused. Thankfully it was a cheap one and I didn’t go for ‘the real deal’ right away.
Anyone? Got a smart watch? How do you feel about it?

October 29, 2024 at 5:32 am #20748ChrisParticipantPublicEvery once in a while you’ll see a story in the news about how a smart watch saved someone’s life.
As with everything else, I think you get what you pay for so the more expensive ones are more sophisticated and they have a lot more options and features.
My biggest problem with a smart watch is bad eyesight. I use reading glasses but when I’m outside I don’t need them and that means I can’t look at my watch or even at my phone.
Here’s to hoping that people don’t mess up their eyes using phones and smart watches. -
