There is a tourist train that rides through the mountains here. You can get on the train in the city and it takes you on a scenic ride through the mountains. This train literally rides through my back yard.
The train rides twice a day and a mile down the road from me is where the train crosses the road to then continue on private land. Everyone who is familiar with this road will slow way down at the overpass since there’s a serious bump that can damage a vehicle.
Anyway since the train only rides twice a day it’s very rare to see the arms at the overpass down. I’ve only seen it twice in all the years I’ve been on this road.
Today, the arms were down. I got all excited, waiting for the train. I planned on opening my car window and waving.

    So I waited.
    And then I waited longer.
And then I waited a lot longer.
And then I waited some more.

Eventually I realized that no train was coming. Now what? Finally after maybe 10 minutes a vehicle came from the other direction and stopped as well (This is a very quiet road).
The driver got out of the vehicle, pushed the arms of the overpass up, got back in his vehicle and crossed. It was that easy.

    Haha.
